Body Parts John Coplans
Book DescriptionFollowing the attacks of September 11, artist and downtown resident John Coplans responded unconsciously to the disaster by making photos of his arms and legs and then collaging the two together into one image. After making four such images, Coplans realized the connection to the aftermath of the event, where workmen were digging up debris and constantly finding human remains, especially body parts. At the same time, Coplans' problems with his eyesight were exacerbated; he was unable tosee facial features, and he could neither read nor focus. The days became dark, somewhat like dusk, but worse. For some time, his left eye had been useless because of Macular Degeneraion; now, the same thing was happening to his right eye. Yet Coplanscould still see flat images the size of a postcard fairly distinctly with the aid of a magnifying machine, and decided to continue working on Body Parts. Since he could not see, the question arises as to how Coplans could take these......

A Midsummer Night's Scream : Hamlet II David Bergantino
Pocket Star. Think you know Shakespeare? Think again! Will's immortal tales often have a higher body count than a teenage slasher flick-and just as many freaky creatures. All they need is a little updating to turn centuries-old classics into modern-day fright fests! At Globe University, romance is not going smoothly. Lenore likes Dmitri who likes Mia who likes Zander who, okay, likes Mia, too. When these mismatched couples are paired off for a summer school "parenting" assignment, trouble is clearly on the horizon-even before a spooky, old-fashioned carnival rolls into town. The mysterious carnival-boasting sideshow freaks like the Wolf Boy, the Human Torso, and the seductive Lizard Woman-attracts the bored and unhappy college kids like the lurid purple glow of fresh cotton candy. But more than harmless chills and thrills are in store for the gang as dark occult forces mess with their minds, turning true love into murderous hate! Before this warm summer night is over, not a......

Letters, Orders and Musters of Bertrand du Guesclin, 1357-1380
Book DescriptionBertrand du Guesclin (d. 1380) was the most famous French soldier of his generation. He made his name as a guerrilla leader in the Breton War of Succession (1341-64) and, as Constable from 1370-80, played a major role in the recovery of France under Charles V. Captured on at least three occasions, but also victorious in several important battles, his valour and dominant personality allowed him to exercise remarkable influence. He twice led important expeditions to Spain where he was rewarded with lands and titles by the kings of Aragon and Castile. A contemporary chivalric verse-life lies at the base of all subsequent biographies, but this book brings together for the first time the wealth of archival evidence relating to his career, making available the full range of diplomatic, administrative and financial evidence for his public and private life found in more than fifty archives in western Europe. It offers a corrective to views on du Guesclin that have......
